The Living Legacy of The Party

It’s About Time BPP Alumni Chapter and Neighbor Program are teaming up to produce a new documentary highlighting the living legacy and impact of the Black Panther Party. In the film, we will learn about the growth of the Party by following Billy X on a Black Panther historical landmark tour and see the impact the Party has left on the community throughout Northern California. The Party’s community survival programs touched the heart of the people which is reflected in the collective memory of the community and has pushed a new generation of people to organize and work to meet the material needs of the people to honor the Panthers. The Living Legacy of The Party will feature Billy X, Jilchristina Vest & the West Oakland Mural Project/Mini Museum, Melisa Charles (Director of the Fannie Lou Hamer Research Center at UC Berkely), Dr. Dale Allender (Dept. of Education CSU-Sacramento), People’s Programs and Neighbor Program. It will debut at the Black Panther Party’s 55th Year Celebration and will have a special Sacramento screening in November. We are so excited to bring the world this film and honor the legacy of the party!
